Google සමාගම දිගු කාලයක ඉඳන් standalone social networking site එකක් වෙනුවෙන් මහන්සි උනා. ඒත් Facebook, Twitter වගේ social networks තරම් අති සාර්ථක උනේ නම් නෑ. ඉතින් ඒ විදිහට සාර්ථක වෙන්න බැරි උනත් දැනට Google සමාගම සතුව තියෙන සහ දැනට සාර්ථකව පවත්වාගෙන යන platforms වල social features offer කරන එක නම් ඔවුන් නවත්වල නෑ. ඉතින් දැන් ඔවුන් Google maps හරහා users ලා එකිනෙකා follow කිරීමේ feature එක ලබා දීලා තියෙනවා.
Blog post එකක් හරහා Google සමාගම ප්‍රකාශ කලේ මේ අලුත් feature එක හරහා community-powered updates සහ recommendations වගේ දේවල් access කරන්නට පහසු වෙන බවයි. Google ලට අනුව user කෙනෙක්ට photos share කරලා තියෙන, recommendations දීලා තියෙන තවත් user කෙනෙක්ව follow කරන්න පුලුවන්. එහෙම follow කරලා ඒ users ලගෙන් recommendations, advices, updates වගේ දේවල් ලබාගන්න පුලුවන්.
ඒ වගේම මේත් එක්ක අලුත් topic filters පවා ලැබෙනවා. ඉතින් එතකොට පුලුවන් user ට තමන්ට් යන්න ඕන locations ඒ ඒ topics වලින් filter කරලා ලබාගන්න. ඉතින් මේකට eateries, camping grounds, parks වගේ තැන් අයිති වෙනවා.
