Starlink කියන නම ඇහෙද්දිම අපිට මතක් වෙන්නෙ Satellite Internet. HughesNet නමත් මේ Satellite Internet අතර තිබ්බට Elon musk ගෙ SpaceX සන්නාමය සමඟ Starlink සන්නාමයද තම රුවල් තද කරගත්තා කිව්වොත් නිවැරදී. ඉතින් Elon musk ගෙ Starlink එහෙමත් නැත්නම් සියවසේ නවතම සොයා ගැනීම Satellite Internet සදහා තව තරගකාරයෙක් පැමිණෙන බව මේ වන විට නිවේදනය කර තිබෙන්නේ Elon musk ගේ ඔලුවට ගලක් ගසන්නා සේය.
මේ මස 14 වන දින Amazon සමාගම නිවේදනය කර සිටියේ ඔවුන්ගේ නවතම Satellite Internet සේවාව Project Kuiper 2024 වසරේ මුල් කාලයේදී පරිශීලකයන් හට දියත් කල හැකි බවයි. තව දුරටත් Amazon සමාගම පවසන්නේ 100Gbps prototype satellite කිහිපයක් පෘථිවිය වටා දැලක් ආකාරයට පිහිටුවා ඒ සියල්ල laser link හා සම්බන්ධ කරන බවයි.
“After demonstrating 100 Gbps optical links between its prototype satellites, Project Kuiper will include laser links on every satellite in its constellation to form a mesh network in space.”
Project Kuiper හි තාක්ෂණික අංශයේ උප සභාපති Rajeev Badyal පවසන්නේ ඔවුන්ගේ දියත් කිරීමේ පළමු දින සිටම සියලු චන්ද්‍රිකාවන් OISL හා සහය වන බවයි.
“With optical inter-satellite links across our satellite constellation, Project Kuiper will effectively operate as a mesh network in space. This system is designed fully in-house to optimize for speed, cost, and reliability, and the entire architecture has worked flawlessly from the very start. These immediate results are only possible because we approached our OISL architecture as one part of a fully integrated system design, and it’s a testament to this team’s willingness to invent on behalf of customers. We’re excited to be able to support these next-generation OISL (optical inter-satellite link) capabilities on every Kuiper satellite from day one.”
